The Gospel Stage Play “Mothers of Old”

Washington, DC – Chocolate City welcomes Urban Theater Back to the Historic Lincoln

Theater on May 1, 2022. The phenomenal Stage Play “Mothers’ of Old," is written and directed

by Shannon Whren. It is a riveting gospel musical stage play that tackles generational issues,

secrets, and unspoken, traumatic personal wounds.

Using comedy and a star-studded cast, the stage play opens the door for real life conversations

that need to be had but often can be ignored or brushed under the rug. These actors are amazing

at bringing their characters alive and will take the audience on a journey of love, celebration and

understanding. The cast includes Grammy considered, DC native NiKea Marie, Washington

DC’s own, son of the late great Chuck Brown, Wiley Brown, who is fresh off of his TV debut on

Ready to Love, OWN network, Aaliyah Butler known for her role on the Marvelous Mrs.

Maiesel and a host of local amazing actors that will blaze the stage showcasing their talent.

The creative mind behind this stage play, Shannon Whren is not new to creating, writing and

directing. Her work has afforded countless opportunities for not only herself, but also for those

that have worked with her in bringing her stories to life. Shannon’s strong and unrelenting spirit

is what has propelled her from her small and humble beginnings to a distinguished playwright.

Mothers of Old is a brilliantly, fantastic celebration of love, life, hope and survival. Audiences

will not be disappointed. This stage play will be showcased at the Lincoln theater on May 1,
